Two men, Alex Khodyrev, 35, from Kazakhstan, and Pavel Kublitskii, 37, from Russia, have been indicted in the U.S. for their involvement in managing a dark web marketplace called WWH Club. The platform specialized in the sale of stolen personal information, credit card details, and bank account information.
Details:
- The pair administered WWH Club (wwh-club[.]ws) and other sister sites, which functioned as marketplaces, forums, and training centers for cybercrime.
- Users could purchase stolen PII, computer passwords, and financial data, and access cybercrime training courses.
- Between 2014 and 2024, the site reportedly hosted over 353,000 users globally.
FBI Investigation:
- The FBI launched an investigation in 2020, with undercover agents paying $1,000 in Bitcoin for a course on conducting cyber fraud.
Criminal Charges:
- Khodyrev and Kublitskii have been charged with conspiracy to commit access device fraud and wire fraud.
- If convicted, they could each face up to 20 years in prison. Their assets, including luxury vehicles, have also been targeted for forfeiture.
WWH Club's Future:
Despite the indictments, WWH Club remains operational, and other administrators appear to be distancing themselves from the arrested men.
